Even though we’re still a few months out from the debut of Star Wars: Battlefront II on consoles and PC, you can go ahead and get into the story with the book prequel, which is available for reading now.
The book Battlefront II: Inferno Squad covers the cast and events that will lead into Star Wars: Battlefront II’s campaign, and possibly tie in with events from Rogue One and A New Hope, picking up right where the Death Star blew up at the end of the 1977 classic film.
In Inferno Squad, we follow the Imperial team – with Iden Versio likely to be included, since she’s the main leader of them – as they attempt to hunt down and infiltrate the rebel faction, which was once led by Saw Gerrera, who previously appeared in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story last year.
So far, reviews for the book are very good. That shouldn’t be a surprise, tho, as it was written by Christine Golden, who knows a thing or two about game and movie adaptations to literal form. She previously worked on such franchises as StarCraft, Assassin’s Creed, Star Trek, World of Warcraft and also Star Wars: Dark Disciple, so she knows a thing or two about the universe.
You can read an excerpt from the book here to see what kind of tone it’ll be setting as far as the story is concerned. It should make for a great read.
Star Wars: Battlefront II releases on November 17th for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
