With the anticipation that fans of the Assassin's Creed series have for the upcoming installation in the franchise, Assassin's Creed Origins, players have been hoping for news that the game will make a big appearance on the Nintendo scene by releasing on the Nintendo Switch.

Back in May, rumors surrounding the game and which consoles it would be coming to reached their peak, and several sources began coming forward with information related to the topic. We reported around that time that one source, Emily Rogers, was pretty confident that the game wouldn't be coming to the Switch. While that definitely dampened some gamers' hopes, many stuck it out and continued to look forward to a Switch release.

But according to a statement made by Assassin's Creed Origins' game director Ashraf Ismail, the team doesn't plan to expand the game any further past the initial consoles and their upgraded versions.

"We're shipping on Xbox One, Xbox One X, PS4, PS4 Pro, and PC," Ismail told GamingBolt during an interview that addressed several questions pertaining to the game. "There are no plans to release it on Switch."

If there was anyone else holding onto hopes for the Switch version of the game, the defining statement from Ismail will likely take care of those. For those who have been keeping up with the power that the Nintendo Switch comes with, it may not be too much of a surprise to think that the game won't be coming to the console. Many speculated that the game wouldn't be able to run well on the smaller console, and while that wasn't confirmed to be one of the barriers from the above conversations with Ismail, it could still very well be a factor.

Assassin's Creed has made appearances on Nintendo consoles before in more than one form, but it looks like Origins won't be getting the same treatment. Assassin's Creed III was available for the Wii U, and another game, Assassin's Creed II: Discovery, was also available for the Nintendo 3DS.

Assassin's Creed Origins is currently scheduled to be released on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC as well as the upgraded consoles listed in Ismail's quote.
