A rumor has surfaced that suggests the first Dark Souls game is being remastered for the each of the current consoles including the Nintendo Switch.
According to a tweet from Marcus Sellars, an editor and writer for Nintendo Switch Network, news that the game would be remastered is supposedly going to be revealed during a huge event that Bandai Namco is holding on Dec. 15. Sellars has a pinned tweet announcing the event that says “5 unannounced games will be shown off during the event” and that Nintendo would be featured prominently.
Bandai Namco will be hosting an event on December the 15th. 5 unannounced games will be shown off during the event. Nintendo will have a big presence at the event.
However, the news about the Dark Souls remaster came in a form of a reply from Sellars to his pinned tweet where he confirmed that one of those games that Bandai Namco will be announcing is a remastering of Dark Souls. The tweet was deleted, but the removed tweet was screenshotted before it can be taken down. The deleted tweet can be seen below, courtesy of Seasoned Gaming and Reddit.
If the tweet from Sellars proves to be true, the rerelease of Dark Souls as a remastered version for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch would be huge news for anyone who played the original game when it was released back in 2011 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC. Following Demon’s Souls – a game that’s just recently announced that its online servers were shutting down – Dark Souls was the first trip for many into the Souls universe. While the journey continued with Dark Souls II, Dark Souls III, and even Bloodborne, the first Dark Souls game no doubt holds a special spot in gamers’ catalogs as a game that helped form the ”Souls-like” description that’s now applied to so many other games now.
But like with any rumor, the idea that Dark Souls is being remastered for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch should be taken with a grain of salt until we see for sure on Dec. 15 during Bandai Namco’s event.
