NetherRealm’s Ed Boon Confirmed For The Game Awards -- Are We Getting An Injustice 2 Announcement?

Injustice

The guest list for this Thursday’s The Game Awards is growing at a staggering rate. We know that Norman Reedus, Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toro are coming, so a Death Stranding reveal is in the cards; and Jack Black, Kevin Hart and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson will have an exclusive clip from Jumanji: Welcome To the Jungle as well. And that’s not counting other prolific stars, like Aisha Tyler and Felicia Day, as well.

Today, Geoff Keighley, the producer behind The Game Awards, confirmed another big name for the event, as NetherRealm director and main man behind the DC Comics brawler Injustice 2 has been confirmed as a presenter at the event. You can see the tweet below, along with Boon’s image for The Game Awards.

Now, this obviously adds to an impressive cast for the event, but Boon’s presence can’t have us help but wonder – could we be seeing a new Injustice 2 reveal at The Game Awards? Keighley has already promised a number of surprises at the event, and we already know about the fighters that will be included in Fighter Pack 3, so could Boon be planning to bring something along?

That’s pure speculation, mind you, but the Game Awards seems like an ideal place to introduce a second season of Injustice 2 characters, especially considering how well-received the first season of fighters was, with Hellboy, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and other heroes (and villains) being thrown into the fray.

Boon hasn’t said anything – not even any cryptic tweets in terms of what he’ll have for us at The Game Awards – so he might not be revealing anything at all. Still, considering Warner Bros. has had surprises for these types of award shows in the past (it first debuted a teaser trailer for Batman: Arkham City at the Spike Video Game Awards long ago), you never know what these folks may have planned.
