FIFA 18 Sales

People around the world love soccer. And if you need any further proof of that theory, all you need to do is check out the worldwide sales for EA Sports' FIFA 18, which has since become the tentpole title for the company, outperforming even the mighty Madden NFL series.

VGChartz had recently reported that the latest entry in the series, FIFA 18, has become a huge seller in just a short amount of time. Sales indicate that over 300,000 copies sold in the past week, bringing the overall total amount of copies sold to over ten million. That's an impressive new sales mark for the series, and proof that it shows no signs of slowing down.

Sales were dominant in the European region, with 75 percent overall sales accounted for in that country, with 7.69 million units out the door. However, North America didn't do too shabby, with 2.13 million units sold (around 21 percent), leaving just 130,000 copies sold in Japan.

As for the platform where the game sold best, it's all about PlayStation 4, with 7.48 million units sold overall – around 73 percent worth. Meanwhile, the Xbox One version sold 1.85 million units.

Many people expected the Nintendo Switch version to be a big seller. Sadly, only 330,000 units or so sold on that system, while an estimated 310,000 sold on PlayStation 3 (Legacy Edition), and 150,000 sold on Xbox 360 (also Legacy Edition). Meanwhile, PC came in dead last, with the Windows version selling only 70,000 units.

Whether this means FIFA will make a return on Nintendo Switch has yet to be seen, but there's no question we'll be seeing FIFA 19 for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 when it rolls around in September – and EA will no doubt be adding Ultimate Team features and other goodies to keep soccer fans coming back for more.

FIFA 18 is available now for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
