Ant-Man And The Wasp May Introduce Goliath

The Ant-Man sequel may be adding in more heroes than just the Wasp. Marvel Studios is busy prepping production for the long-awaited film, and reports about Ant-Man and the Wasp are already flooding the Internet on the daily. Now, one vetted site is suggesting the film may be looking to introduce Goliath into the MCU.

The folks over at That Hashtag Show recently reported Marvel is wanting to cast someone who fits the bill of Goliath. The site sourced information from a leaked casting call looking to fill a special role. The sheet wants an African-American actor between 55-65 who is described simply as "highly intelligent."

If you are not familiar with Goliath, then you have a bit of history to brush up on. The hero goes by the name Bill Foster and first appeared in Avengers #32 back in 1966. Bill grew up in the ghetto but was able to leave his home by nurturing his genius intellect. The man wound up working for Stark Industries and marrying a familiar MCU character named Claire Temple before his career tore them apart.

As for his Ant-Man connection, Goliath encountered Hank Pym for the first time after Bill was tasked with helping Giant-Man size down. The scientists became friends, and Goliath was eventually able to synthesize a similar growth compound that could turn him into a giant. With the encouragement of Hank, Goliath began to fight crime and assist heroes such as the Thing.

Given the casting call's age requirement, Ant-Man and the Wasp could include an older version of Goliath. The franchise is framed around Scott Lang, the second-coming of Ant-Man. Hank Pym is involved with the films, but the original hero is aged up considerably. Goliath could be brought in as a vetted Giant-Man of sorts to help Lang get a handle on turning into a giant himself. After all, the hero did prove he could go big during Captain America: Civil War; It's only right for someone to help Lang out after all he's done.

In Ant-Man, forced out of his own company by former protégé Darren Cross, Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) recruits the talents of Scott Lang (Paul Rudd), a master thief just released from prison. Lang becomes Ant-Man, trained by Pym and armed with a suit that allows him to shrink in size, possess superhuman strength and control an army of ants. The miniature hero must use his new skills to prevent Cross, also known as Yellowjacket, from perfecting the same technology and using it as a weapon for evil.

Ant-Man was directed by Peyton Reed, with a screenplay by Edgar Wright & Joe Cornish and Adam McKay & Paul Rudd, and stars Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Corey Stoll, Bobby Cannavale, Michael Peña, Tip "T.I." Harris, Anthony Mackie, Wood Harris, Judy Greer, David Dastmalchian, and Michael Douglas.

Ant-Man and the Wasp is again directed by Peyton Reed, with Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Farrari providing the screenplay and Adam McKay and Paul Rudd providing the story. The film stars Paul Rudd (Scott Lang/Ant-Man), Evangeline Lilly (Hope van Dyne/The Wasp), Michael Pena (Luis), Michael Douglas (Hank Pym), T.I. (Dave), Hannah John-Kamen, and David Dastmalchian (Kurt).
