The identity of Supreme Leader Snoke and how he potentially ties into a known character or location has been one of the biggest mysteries in the Star Wars saga. New images from an upcoming book celebrating The Last Jedi doesn't confirm his identity, but does reveal Snoke is a Sith capable of various abilities we've seen Darth Vader and Emperor Palpatine demonstrate in earlier films.

According to an image posted on Reddit, featuring images from the upcoming book Star Wars: Absolutely Everything You Need To Know, "Among Snoke's many frightening powers are telepathy and Force chokes and throws!"

With Snoke serving as the leader of the First Order and Kylo Ren, we knew he was at least somewhat attuned to the Dark Side, but these new sets of skills confirm just how powerful he truly is. In The Force Awakens, the character appeared merely as an elderly figure whose frame looked similar to that of Palpatine or even Yoda's. Both of those villains demonstrated their power over the Force, something in which Snoke apparently follows suit.

The pages also detail just how skilled of warriors Snoke's Praetorian guards are, equipped with high-tech weapons and armor to protect the leader. There are eight such guards, which rules out a rumor that the guards are the rest of the members of the Knights of Ren, of which there were only six.

Recently, Ian McDiarmid, who played Palpatine in Return of the Jedi and the prequel films, dispelled a popular rumor that Snoke could be Palpatine.

"As far as the new films are concerned, I'm dead. There is no question about that," McDiarmid told BBC.

If the actor was either confirming that Snoke isn't Palpatine or that Snoke potentially exists as an undead version of the Emperor is unclear, but with Andy Serkis taking over the role in The Last Jedi, it's most likely the former.

We'll learn more about Snoke when Star Wars: The Last Jedi premieres in theaters December 15.
