The latest season of Stranger Things on Netflix greatly expanded the world beyond the town of Hawkins, opening with a new cast of misfits led by Eleven's "sister" named Kali, AKA Eight.

Another experiment of the mysterious Hawkins lab, Kali (Linnea Berthelsen) is able to project images into people's brains. Unfortunately, fans did not get to stay with the new character for too long, leaving some to wonder if she will show up again in the future.

Series creators Matt and Ross Duffer spoke at the Vulture Festival LA about the character's potential to return, accidentally letting some details slip about Stranger Things 3.

"We are [in] very early days on season three and we're still figuring it out," said Ross. "I probably wasn't supposed to say that… That's not official, that wasn't an official announcement — we're just working on it, just for our own amusement…for fun!"

Though the new season has yet to be announced by Netflix, it's no secret that executives and the show's producers plan to continue Stranger Things for a few more seasons.

As for whether Kali shows, up, Matt was hopeful.

"It feels weird to me that we wouldn't solve [Kali's] storyline," he said. "I would say chances are very high she comes back."

Kali is featured in the opening scene of the series as she and her crew are attempting to escape a police pursuit. She ends up using her powers to derail the cop cars chasing them, revealing she gets the same bloody noses as Eleven does when she uses her powers, and has a similar tattoo.

She didn't show up again until the seventh episode when Eleven tracked her down and temporarily joined her crew. When tracking down one of the people who tortured Eleven's mother, the former Hawkins lab member revealed that Dr. Brenner (Matthew Modine) was still alive.

There is a lot of unfinished business for Kali to tend to, especially with the knowledge that Brenner is out there. We'll see how the Duffer brothers bring her character back whenever the new season hits Netflix.

Stranger Things 2 is now streaming.
