Brazilian entertainment website Omelete dropped by the set of Netflix's Daredevil television series and has provided some interesting information about the sets, characters and costumes.

The most interesting part of their set visit, for me, was visiting the workshop of Melvin Potter, aka Gladiator. In the comics, he was one of Daredevil's first enemies. He was known for building costumes, like his suit of armor. He later changes his ways and becomes a Daredevil ally. In the Netflix show, Potter will be someone that likes to tinker with stuff. "The workshop it is more of an expert in machines," production designer Loren Weeks explained. "We are honoring the original material, but with freedom to create our own interpretation, which is a lot of fun."

We know Matt Murdock isn't going to make his superhero suit - someone else is going to make it for him. Could it come from Potter? "Melvin Potter's kind of a designer but also a very technical guy who develops many superhero uniforms, but mostly villains, with different characteristics and weapons," Prop Master Michael Jortner said. "He will appear on the show as the guy who did the suit Wilson Fisk, with a thin fabric of kevlar -.. protects against stab wounds and some types of shots We will also see him working in the armor of Fisk cars and also give a tip that the Gladiator is there, in some scenes of his workshop. Not only Gladiator, but other characters in the Marvel Universe. They are plants of weapons or uniforms he worked on or is working on."

They then describe a scene from the eight episode that will take place at Potter's workshop. Kingpin and his financial advisor Leland Owlsely (Bob Gunton), aka Owl, is measuring Kingpin (Vincent D'Onofrio) for his kevlar suit. They describe Vincent's voice for Kingpin as "deep."

Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk, aka Kingpin, both want to make Hell's Kitchen a better place to live. "Fisk is a guy who has a heart and a past. costume designer Stephanie Maslansky. "It is a deep and multi-layered character. He is far from being a grotesque and exaggerated character. We leave that to other programs that are on TV."

Our friends at MCU Exchange put together a list of tidbits that were also included in the Daredevil set report:

  • Matt Murdock lives on the top floor of an 8 story building.
  • Rosario Dawson's Claire Temple (Night Nurse) works at Metro General Hospital.
  • The series is aiming for a somewhat realistic tone, akin to The Wire or even Arrow.
  • Matt's abilities are incredible but still very much grounded in reality.
  • Atlas Investments is a company near the Nelson & Murdock Law office, an easter egg to the Pre-Marvel day of Atlas Comics.

Daredevil debuts on Netflix, April 10th.
