A new twist on an old rumor suggests that a live-action Star Wars television series is in the works.

The latest update comes from Cinelinx, who says sources say the live action series, aimed at airing on ABC, will serve the Star Wars universe in a way similar to how Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. serves Marvel's Cinematic Universe.

The production of the series is being put on hold until the production schedule for the current crop of Star Wars movies has been finalized. This is of interest to the television series because they'd like to use some of the sets at Pinewood Studios for filming, presumably splitting production between Pinewood's established sets and original sets built for the series.

Cinelinx also teases that the series will use a character featured in Star Wars books, though the site has yet to reveal which one. With Disney's expanded universe purge, there aren't a whole lot of books left to choose from, but we've got a good 30 more being released as part of The Journey To Star Wars: The Force Awakens, so maybe there will be clues to find there.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens opens December 18.
