For all the fans worried that Ant-Man wouldn’t mesh with the rest of the Marvel Universe, actor Paul Rudd has shrunk the gap between his comedic superhero saga and the Marvel’s more serious films.

Responding to concerns that original director and screenwriter Edgar Wright’s (who left the film over creative differences with Marvel) more isolated vision for Ant-Man would disconnect the character from his Avengers brethren, Rudd, who plays Scott Lang/Ant-Man, said that Ant-Man is very much a Marvel movie.

“Certainly it’s a part of the Marvel Universe. However, it stands on its own. That seemed to be a sticking point or something that was discussed when the history of this project was reported with Edgar, and wanting to make it more of Marvel movie. I think it absolutely fits in.”

And just to reiterate that fact, Rudd teased that this summer’s film won’t be the last time viewers see Ant-Man.

“I also wouldn’t be surprised if we saw Ant-Man in some other things, Rudd told MTV. “[Marvel]” has said a few things. I know some things, but I don’t know everything.”

That said, Rudd also assured that viewers unfamiliar with Marvel could still enjoy the film as its own project. So, it sounds like everybody wins.

Ant-Man opens on July 17.
