The CW has successfully created its own DC universe, and later this year the shows will be uniting once again as part of the Invasion! storyline. Before any hero can defend the earth from being taken over by a squadron of angry aliens, a little R&R is in order, a process captured perfectly in the newest photos of the cast.

The cast of Supergirl, Arrow, The Flash, and Legends of Tomorrow take the spotlight in the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly. The cast really seems to enjoy each other’s company, as smiles are everywhere, including the group photo that shows the team passing the time with some video games, popcorn, and comics.
After the fun has been had, a few other photos give fans their first glimpse at the three-part crossover saga, includingSara Lance (Caity Lotz) reuniting with Laurel Lance (Katie Cassidy) and Cisco Ramon (Carlos Valdes) meeting Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) for the first time.
The Invasion! storyline will mirror its comic counterpart closely, though in the EW issue the creator’s hint of one potential difference. In the original story, the dominators assembled a variety of other alien races to join them in attacking the earth to extinguish the metahuman threat. In this version, those aliens might not have joined the cause willingly and could be under mind control. That could lead to a rebellion within their forces later down the line.
“This year, we’re doing by far the most ambitious crossover we’ve ever done. It’s basically a huge three-part story that also brings in Supergirl, so it’s crossing over all four shows” said executive producer Marc Guggenheim. “It’s telling one big epic movie of a story. It’s not setting up any other spin-offs, it’s just big, bombastic, huge action. There’s also some really poignant character moments. There’s a lot of plot lines, particularly I would say in Flash and Legends, that come to fruition in the crossover. It’s by far the most ambitious thing we’ve ever attempted. I want to say it’s by far one of the most ambitious things anyone in network television has ever attempted. It’s completely insane.”
