In addition to being a geek god for playing Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars saga, actor Mark Hamill has also earned the distinct honor of playing one of the most iconic and beloved onscreen versions of The Joker.

Holding that status makes Hamill a prime focus of discussion whenever a new actor takes on The Joker role, as fans then debate and re-order the rankings. With Suicide Squad having introduced us to Jared Leto's DCEU version of Joker, there's been plenty to debate.

Fans and outlets have already new Joker actor rankings - but what does the king of DC animated Jokers think about the gangsta version Leto portrayed in Suicide Squad? Now we have the quote that answers that question.

Mark Hamill Reacts to Jared Leto's Joker

Talking to Polygon about his new series Mark Hamill's Pop Culture Quest, Hamill was gracious about Leto's Joker, saying, "Everyone brings a different spin to the character ... I don't think there's a definitive version of the Joker and I don't think there can be. It's like Hamlet, really. It'll be constantly redefined."

Polygon noted that Hamill actually said "he loved" Leto's performance - but fans who disagree should probably hear the caveat that Hamill also "hasn't seen an interpretation yet that's made him go, "That was terrible."

Clearly Hamill is a gracious actor who knows to leave judgment-free space for other actors to come in and offer their own interpretations of The Joker character. However, actor-on-actor pleasantry doesn't sway fan opinion all that much - and in the minds of viewers, there is a definite hierarchy to the onscreen Jokers they like.

Suicide Squad the extended cut is now available.
