In its first 24 hours, after debuting during the ACC Football Championship game on Saturday night, the first full-length trailer for Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 was viewed over 81 million times, making it the second-most viewed trailer in a one-day span. The current record is 127.6 million views and was just set last month by Disney’s live-action adaptation of Beauty and The Beast.
Clearly, interest in Guardians Of The Galaxy hasn’t waned one bit โ and has probably increased significantly โ since the first film debuted in the summer of 2014 and went on to earn $773.3 million at the world box office. That’s pretty incredible when you consider that many people initially doubted that a lesser-known Marvel property featuring a talking raccoon and a humanoid-tree with a very-limited vocabulary (I am Groot!) could succeed.

And today, Marvel Entertainment has released a dozen high-resolution images from Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2. While all of the images have been previously-seen in the trailers, it’s still great to see them as high-quality, official stills. Additionally, they only feature the five-main members of the superhero team: Baby Groot, Drax, Star-Lord, Rocket, and Gamora.
Set to the backdrop of ‘Awesome Mixtape #2,’ Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 continues the team’s adventures as they traverse the outer reaches of the cosmos. The Guardians must fight to keep their newfound family together as they unravel the mysteries of Peter Quill’s true parentage. Old foes become new allies and fan-favorite characters from the classic comics will come to our heroes’ aid as the Marvel cinematic universe continues to expand.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is written and directed by James Gunn (Slither). The film marks the return of the original Guardians, including Chris Pratt (Jurassic World) as Peter Quill/Star-Lord; Zoe Saldana (Star Trek Into Darkness) as Gamora; Dave Bautista (Spectre) as Drax; Vin Diesel (Furious 7) as the voice of Groot; Bradley Cooper (American Sniper) as the voice of Rocket; Michael Rooker (Jumper) as Yondu; Karen Gillan (The Big Short) as Nebula; and Sean Gunn (Gilmore Girls) as Kraglin. New cast members include Pom Klementieff (Oldboy), Elizabeth Debicki (The Great Gatsby, Everest), Chris Sullivan (The Knick, The Drop) and Kurt Russell (The Hateful Eight, The Thing).
