Today, fans of Ben Affleck were startled to learn what the actor has been up to recently. The acclaimed actor and director took to social media to confirm he recently completed treatment for alcohol addiction. Affleck opened up about the difficult ordeal on Facebook, thanking his loved ones for their support as he continues making progress towards recovery.

Of course, fans were eager to show their love and support to Affleck as well. The actor has nested himself a loyal fandom in the geek world thanks to his work in the DC Extended Universe. Last year, Affleck made his debut as Batman and will reprise the role this year in Justice League. In the future, the star will then don Batman's cowl yet again for The Batman, but some fans worried Affleck's recent struggles would prevent him from taking part in the impending film.

However, according to a new report from Entertainment Weekly, that does not seem to be the case.

The site learned from a source that Affleck's treatment has not affected his work on The Batman. EW writes that Affleck is still "working on the script for the planned sequel with D.C.'s chief creative officer Geoff Johns."

For fans, the report is a welcome one as many have come to anticipate Affleck's work with Batman. Most recently, fans became concerned that Affleck was wanting to leave the DCEU all together after news broke he had stepped down as the director of The Batman. Warner Bros. then asked Matt Reeves to take up the position, but no word has been given which suggests Affleck is eager to retire as Gotham's vigilante just yet.

"I have completed treatment for alcohol addiction; something I've dealt with in the past and will continue to confront. I want to live life to the fullest and be the best father I can be. I want my kids to know there is no shame in getting help when you need it, and to be a source of strength for anyone out there who needs help but is afraid to take the first step. I'm lucky to have the love of my family and friends, including my co-parent, Jen, who has supported me and cared for our kids as I've done the work I set out to do. This was the first of many steps being taken towards a positive recovery."
