New character breakdowns that have surfaced online may give us our first hint as some new faces from the Marvel Comics Universe that will be making their Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in Marvel’s Jessica Jones Season 2.

Keep reading to see these character breakdowns, along with some educated guesses about which Marvel characters these character breakdown may represent (via MCU Exchange). Keep in mind that these are just best guesses and nothing is known for sure at this time.

These guesses about the characters are based partly on Marvel’s tendency to key the first letter of a character breakdown code name to the first letter of a character’s actual name. With that in mind, the character descriptions and our guesses both seem to connect to the lingering plot thread involving the origin of Jessica’s powers and the mysterious corporation called IGH.

Marvel’s Jessica Jones was created by Melissa Rosenberg, based on the Marvel Comics character created by Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Gaydos. Krysten Ritter stars as Jessica Jones. The first season co-starred Michael Colter, Rachael Taylor, Wil traval, Erin Moriarty, Eka Darville, Carrie-Anne Moss, and David Tennant.

In Jessica Jones, haunted by a traumatic past, Jessica Jones uses her gifts as a private eye to find her tormentor before he can harm anyone else in Hell’s Kitchen.

Jessica Jones was renewed for a second season in January 2016. Jessica Jones Season 2 is expected to debut on Netflix in 2018.

Ritter will appear as Jessica Jones in the Marvel’s The Defenders crossover miniseries, premiering in August.

“Dr. Kirby” – Dr. Karl Malus

[DR. KIRBY] 60s, male, open ethnicity, scientist & freethinker SERIES REGULAR โ€“ ONE YEAR DEAL

Dr. Karl Malusย is a mad scientist from the Marvel Universe who has an interest in genetic manipulation and the creation of superpowered beings. His devotion to science at all costs means he fits into the “freethinker” description, and his status as a supervillainย makes sense for a one year deal.

Malusย is responsible for empowering many obscure Marvel characters. As such, he may be a good fit for the mysterious IGHย organization thatย Jessica Jones Season 1 hinted at being responsible for giving Jessica, Kilgrave, and Will Sampson their unique abilities.

Malus’s most recent appearance in Marvel Comics was in the pages ofย Captain America: Sam Wilson. Malusย was kidnapping Mexicans crossing the southern border into the United States as test subjects in his laboratory. One of his subjects,ย Joaquin Torres, was transformed into a kind of human/bird hybrid. Cap bestowed upon him the Falcon persona and Torres has become Sam’s new sidekick.

Presley – Paladin

[PRESLEY] Late 30s, Male, African American, intelligent, driven, self-assured FRACTIONAL SERIES REGULAR

Paladin is a relatively unknown character from the Marvel Universe, but he has been around the block a few times. Neither a true hero or villain, Paladin is a mercenary and frequently works as a private investigator, which puts in firmly in Jessica Jones’ lane just as his penchant for womanizing makes him a prime target for her ire.

In his time in the Marvel Universe, Paladin has been a member of the Defenders, the Heroes for Hire (alongside the Daughters of the Dragon, Colleen Wing and Misty Knight), and the Thunderbolts.

While Paladin is mostly self-interested, he does have his own unique code of honor and will drop a job if completing it means breaking that code. Paladin has no superpowers, but he has weapons, armor, and tech and he knows how to use them.

Paladin

Oliver – Otis Johnson

[OLIVER] 34-38, male, Latino, artistic, paternal, smart, scruffy and hip SERIES REGULAR

Otis “Danger” Johnson is an ally of the Daughter of the Dragon – Colleen Wing and Misty Knight – in the Marvel Comics Universe. Johnson was accidentally exposed to chemicals at an AIM facility that granted him powersย that make him indestructibleย and impervious to pain.

However, “Danger” didn’t get a physique to match his new superpowers. Instead, he remains the scrawny nerd he always was, just harder to hurt.

It is possible that Marvel Television and Netflix could alter Johnson’s origin so that he, like Jessica Jones, got his powers from IGH. Perhaps he wasn’t even involved in an accident but instead was simply exposed to the chemicals while working for the company.

Ingrid – Typhoid Mary

[INGRID] Early-mid 30s, 5’8 โ€“ 5’11, female, dark hair, attractive and edgy, has a history of living on the streets. Educated as a nurse, but street-wise. She is attracted to men and womenโ€ฆSERIES REGULAR

Suggesting that Ingrid is the codename for Typhoid Mary seems to break the pattern of indicated the character by the first letter of the code name. However, Marvel Television has a history of changing a character’s real name from the comics, so it’s possible that’s what’s happening with Typhoid Mary.

Perhaps the larger issue is that Typhoid Mary, despite typically being a Daredevil villain, is a mutant. That would seem to put her under the purview of Fox, but deal and exchanges have been made in the past, and this could be another such trade.

Typhoid Mary is mentally ill but holds it together well enough to be a deadly assassin with the powers of telekinesis and pyrokinesis. She’s also skilled in hand-to-hand combat.

Theย street-wise and edgy description certainly fits for Typhoid Mary. Her physical capabilities would make her a direct threat to Jessica Jones, but her trauma, and perhaps even her sexuality, could bond the two together in other ways. All it takes is changing the source of her powers to IGHย and Typhoid Mary fits right inย Jessica Jones pretty perfectly.
