We all know the story of Shane — starting off as Rick’s right-hand man and ending up murdered by the same man he served — and now, Bernthal has shared his most memorable part of the series.

At a combined panel with Daredevil‘s Elden Henson during this weekend’s Phoenix Comicon, Bernthal revealed (via Omega Underground) that his favorite scene on The Walking Dead was when he released a reanimated Sophia — the child of one of his group members — from the barn on Hershel’s farm.

The scene, arguably one of the series’ most touching moments, ended with Rick shooting the infected Sophia.

Although ultimately meeting his end at the hands of Rick, Bernthal’s performance on the show remains a fan-favorite.

After appearing in the second season of Daredevil, Bernthal will next appear in the first season of The Punisher, his one solo show slated to premiere on Netflix later this year.
