As you can see above, the most recent trailer for The Inhumans focuses on the civil war brewing over on Atillan. Maximus is moving forward with a coup to push his own brother Black Bolt out of power, and the decision forces the royal family to flee to Earth. However, it doesn’t look like Medusa will make it planet-side with all her hair intact.

Yes, that’s right. The Inhumans will show a shaved Medusa, and the show’s newest footage gives fans their first-look at the surprising style.

The trailer ends with a brief scene featuring Medusa as she approaches one of Maximus’ loyalist on Earth. The Queen of Atillan approaches the woman from the back and engages her in a brutal hand-to-hand battle.

“I am the Queen of Atillan,” Medusa says. “No one tells me what to do.”

The scene introduces a notably different look for Medusa since her signature red locks are missing. The heroine is seen rocking a buzz cut, but fans are not too surprised to see Medusa missing her long locks. After all, previous set photos from The Inhumans showed actress Serinda Swan filming without her character’s wig.

If you’re wondering why Medusa’s missing hair is concerning, then you need to brush up on her powers. The Inhuman derives her enhanced gifts from her hair as she can control its strands as if they were another limb. Medusa’s hair is insanely strong and tough, but it has been mowed down in the past. In fact, Maximus managed to shave Medusa during a comic run in the late 1990s. The villain’s live-action mirror may do the same thing to Medusa after the queen pushes back against Maximus’ coup.

Marvel’s The Inhumans premieres September 1 in IMAX theaters followed by its television debut beginning September 29th on ABC.

In Marvel’s Inhumans, after the Royal Family of Inhumans is splintered by a military coup, they barely escape to Hawaii where their surprising interactions with the lush world and humanity around them may prove to not only save them, but Earth itself.
