Doctors Issue Advice On Avoiding Pokemon Go Injuries

While many are having a ball with Nintendo and Niantic's Pokemon GO, unfortunately, the game has also been at the center of some sad and tragic stories as well.

Whether it was not paying attention while driving, or while walking, or getting stuck underground due to an overeagerness to find rare Pokemon, all could have been avoided. Seeing this as a rising problem, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons has issued a new video, which is part of their Digital Deadwalker series (via CBS News). Sadly, it's pretty spot on in regards to how people behave while out in public.

In addition to the video campaign, the Academy also shared some written thoughts on the subject as well.

"We love that these games are bringing children and adults outdoors and encouraging exercise," Dr. Alan S. Hilibrand," AAOS spokesperson and a Philadelphia-based orthopedic surgeon, said in a press release. "But we also want everyone to be mindful of their surroundings as they enjoy this activity. Walking while looking at your phone or electronic device can result in sprains, broken bones, and other serious, even fatal, injuries."

Look, feel free to catch all the Pokemon you desire and hatch all the eggs you can. Just be aware of your surroundings and use common sense, for your safety and for everyone else's as well.
