It is official; The Tokyo Ghoul just launched a ship that can’t stop sailing now that it’s out at sea. Sui Ishida’s newest update of Tokyo Ghoul re has confirmed Touka is pregnant with Ken’s child, and the two may or may not have tied the knot on top of it all.
No, seriously.
It has been a couple chapters since Touka hooked up with Ken, and the pair have been exploring their romance ever since. The pair finally addressed their sexual tension by consummating their relationship in a grungy hideout not too long ago. The following day, Touka then gave Ken a ring engraved with her parents’ names to signify how closely the two were now tied. As of late, the pair have been living on the down-low in the 24th Ward, but Touka’s life is about to get even more complicated. You know, because she is now pregnant.

Due in December, Touka refuses to tell Ken about her pregnancy but she ultimately gives up when pressed.
“I’m pregnant. Probably,” she says. “But I dunno if it’ll even be born right. I thought I’d tell you if and when I was sure, but. I really was just gonna keep quiet about it. I’m sorry.”
Naturally, Ken freaks out over the response, but his first action is one which no one saw coming; The hero asks to marry Touka in a roundabout way. The boy asks how Ghouls signify marriage, leaving Touka to explain it happens when couples leave marks on each others’ bodies. Ken then bites her neck, leaving an imprint. The chapter ends that way with the tagline, “Proof that the two were once two,” situated below.
So, if you are a Touka/Kaneki shipper, then it looks like all your dreams are coming true. That is, if Ishida doesn’t decided to kill off one-half of the couple in a totally tragic twist.
If you are unfamiliar with Tokyo Ghoul, Viz Media describes the story below:
“Ghouls live among us,โ the same as normal people in every way – except their craving for human flesh.โ Shy Ken Kaneki is thrilled to go on a date with the beautiful Rize.โ But it turns out that she’s only interested in his body – eating it,โ that is.โ When a morally questionable rescue transforms him into the first half-human half-Ghoul hybrid,โ Ken is drawn into the dark and violent world of Ghouls,โ which exists alongside our own.โ”
The series debuted in September 2011 thanks to mangaka Sui Ishida. Weekly Young Jump first published the manga before it was adapted into an anime series by Pierrot. The anime premiered in July 2014 before a second season ran in January 2015. A third season has yet to be announced by any party.
Tokyo Ghoul is set in an alternate reality where creatures known as ghouls exist. The horrifying monsters survive by consuming human flesh and live amongst humans in secret. The story follows a boy named Ken Kaneki after a date-gone-wrong leaves him a half-ghoul. Struggling to adapt to his new life, Ken tries his best to fit into ghoul society, keep his monstrous status hidden from humans, and reign in the insatiable hunger he has for flesh.
