Manga magazine Jump SQ has announced that Rurouni Kenshin will be resuming in September, with fans excited to see the upcoming Hokkaido Arc soon. This marks the return for Ex-Con Ashitaro, with the manga picking up from where the spin-off last ended.

The spin-off's first installment was published late last year, with the story being about a man named Ashitaro Hasegawa, an ex-con, who has recently been released from prison. Upon release, he runs into a couple that has been waiting for this day for quite some time. Since the last chapter ended, Rurouni Kenshin fans have been desperately waiting for the release of the next installment, with their wishes finally being heard.

Rurouni Kenshin was created by manga illustrator Nobuhiro Watsuki and since the manga's release in 1994 in the Weekly Shonen Jump magazine, the series has inspired a number of spin-off volumes, animated films, an animated TV series and a number of live-action adaptations. The original story is about a former assassin named Kenshin Himura, who has dedicated the remainder of his life to atoning his past sins.

As a result, Himura and his comrades then travel Japan and spend their days standing up for the oppressed underdogs, as a way to rid the county of senseless violence. The popular anime is now once again in the spotlight after it was licensed by Funimation, to bring the Rurouni Kenshin live-action film trilogy to the U.S. The first installment, Rurouni Kenshin, was released in 2012 with the latest live-action film, Rurouni Kenshin: The Legend Ends, hitting fans screens in October 2016.

Rurouni Kenshin's Hokkaido Arc is set to be released in the October issue of Jump SQ summer edition, which will be available for fans to enjoy on September 4th this year. Until then, there is still time for manga fans to enjoy get up to date with the original series, as well as The Ex-Con Shitaro spin-off.
