The overall quality of manga in 2025 is especially evident in the various ongoing titles of the year, as both established titles and fairly new hits were as phenomenal reads as ever. Thatโ€™s especially true when looking at a few ongoing titles in particular, and hopefully, theyโ€™ll all continue to be great for years to come.

10) Tower Dungeon

In Tsutomu Niheiโ€™s Tower Dungeon, Yuva and his friends continued their trek through the dragon tower, and as they did, not only did they get closer than anyone to the necromancer, but they also learned startling revelations about Yuvaโ€™s true self and connection to the princess that changed everything about their mission.

Tower Dungeon is only in its second year, but at this point, the worldbuilding and character writing have both evolved to make every chapter an undeniable gem from start to finish. Tower Dungeon looks like it might be heading into its final act, but as it stands, itโ€™s poised to end on nothing but a high note.

9) Zatch Bell! 2

In Makoto Raikuโ€™s Zatch Bell! 2, after a touching and action-packed reunion with Barry and Ponygon, Zatch and Kiyomaro met with a pair of Belialโ€™s minions trying to leave Belial to live in peace, but Belial wouldnโ€™t allow that, so Zatch and Kiyomaro had to fight to protect them until they could make their escape.

Barry and Ponygonโ€™s long-awaited return provided as much action and heart as someone could want, and while the second half of Zatch Bell! 2โ€™s 2025 run wasnโ€™t as big, the new characters still added plenty of life to the story, especially Jillnoz. Zatch Bell! 2 continues to be a phenomenal sequel, and it isnโ€™t showing any signs of slowing down.

8) Dandadan

In Yukinobu Tatsuโ€™s Dandadan, while Momo was restored to her normal size before everyone forgot about her, for some reason, she lost her memories of everything that had happened since she met Okarun. Nevertheless, Okarun resolved to make Momo fall in love with him all over again, even as Count Saint-Germain continued his mysterious plot in the background.

While some Dandadan fans have taken umbrage with the amnesia plot, the way it forces Okarun to be the assertive one does a lot to highlight his growth and has made room for even more cute moments between the two. Add in the art and action being as great as ever, and Dandadan is as great as itโ€™s ever been.

7) Gachiakuta

In Kei Uranaโ€™s Gachiakuta, following Folloโ€™s long-awaited evolution into a Giver, Rudo and his friends finally went to the Doll Festival to track down the Choker Maker, but what was waiting for them instead was a massive battle with Mymo, the seemingly innocent news caster whoโ€™s been plotting to take over the Pit.

Folloโ€™s arc made for a great payoff for his character, and immediately following it, the Doll Festival arc has been a phenomenal read for its great action, Gountessโ€™ tragic character, and for just how despicable a person Mymo is. The Doll Festival arc is already shaping up to be Gachiakutaโ€™s best arc, and hopefully, it sticks the landing in 2026.

6) Record of Ragnarok

In Shinya Umemura, Takumi Fukui, and Azychikaโ€™s Record of Ragnarok, following the tenth round battle between Okita Souji and Susanoo, Ragnarokโ€™s next two matches were Simo Hayha vs. Loki and Sakata Kintoki vs. Odin, all of which saw more revelations about Odinโ€™s plot for releasing Yggdrasil and the Primordial Gods.

Not only did the latest rounds have some of the best action in the series to date, but Record of Ragnarok is finally delving into its myth arc, and itโ€™s already poised to stun with one massive reveal after another. Record of Ragnarok might be heading into its endgame, but fortunately, there are still plenty of surprises left in store.

5) Blue Lock

In Muneyuki Kaneshiro and Yusuke Nomuraโ€™s Blue Lock, with Bastard Munchenโ€™s victory over PXG, the Neo Egoist League ended with Isagi as the top player in Blue Lock. From there, the story finally entered the World Cup, and despite everyoneโ€™s accomplishments, they still had plenty of work to do before they could become the best.

With Isagiโ€™s massive victory and Nagiโ€™s heartbreaking defeat, the Neo Egoist League ended on an amazing note, and sure enough, the World Cup arc is already living up to the hype with how incredible the Nigeria match was. Everything in Blue Lock has been building to these developments, and it will be great to see what else comes of it.

4) Centuria

In Tohru Kuramoriโ€™s Centuria, as Lacrima somehow worked her way into Julianโ€™s family, Elstri launched another assault with a legion of gifted ones to kill Diana, and while the assault ultimately failed, everything was set up for an even bigger conflict later down the line as various truths about Diana finally came out.

Not only did Centuria continue to deliver incredible action, but the various revelations about the plot have only further enriched the narrative and set up even more to look forward to with Dianaโ€™s prophecy and the forces connected to it. Centuria is only entering its second year of serialization, but itโ€™s already proven itself to be an all-around great read.

3) Ichi The Witch

Ichi the Witch

In Osamu Nishi and Shiro Usazakiโ€™s Ichi the Witch, after an intense battle with the World Hater, Ichi and his team continued their hunts for deadly Majiks. First, they teamed up with the violent Gokuraku to defeat the deceptive and manipulative Bakugami, and later, they started fighting Kizashi the Octobomb Majik to protect the half-human child of the Chronoweaver Majik.

Following a great debut, Ichi the Witch more than lived up to the hype in 2025 with nonstop action, great worldbuilding and art, and a cast of heroes and villains who are always fun to watch. Ichi the Witch is already one of the best new-gen manga around, and hopefully, it still has plenty of stories to tell.

2) Kagurabachi

In Takeru Hokazonoโ€™s Kagurabachi, after Chihiro and the Hishakuโ€™s fighting over Iori drew out Samura, Chihiro finally got Samura to believe in him and come back to their side. Unfortunately, there was no time to rest as the Hishaku launched an all-out assault on the Kamunabi, with them even succeeding in freeing the deadly Swordmaster, Akemura Soga.

The conclusion to Samuraโ€™s arc was as dramatic as one could imagine, and sure enough, it had a perfect follow-up with the constant action of Kamunabi invasion and the massive twist of Akemura breaking free. Kagurabachi is still one of the best manga in Shonen Jump right now, and its latest developments will only see it get better.

1) One Piece

In Eiichiro Odaโ€™s One Piece, to convince Hajrudin to free Loki from his chains, Loki was forced to tell the truth about the death of King Harald. What followed was a lengthy flashback covering not only Haraldโ€™s past, but the formal introduction of Rocks D. Xebec and, surprisingly, the long-awaited reveal of the God Valley Incident.

Between the great development for Harald and Rocks and how much the story of God Valley lived up to its hype, One Pieceโ€™s latest flashback has been nothing short of a masterpiece from day one. The arc has been some of One Pieceโ€™s best writing, by far, and itโ€™s why One Piece was easily the best ongoing manga of 2025.
