There are some characters in Attack on Titan who you’d absolutely want to be friends with if you got sucked into its universe. Fans may love the action-packed series, but it takes guts and courage to live in a world where man-eating Titans roam free. However, there are some ways to ensure your relative safety and being friends with some of the anime‘s strongest characters would help the cause.

Here at ComicBook.com, we are looking back at the anime’s strongest characters to date. And, no – we’re not including Titans. There is no way a mere human could compare to the might of the Colossal Titan, but if there were, Levi would come close to leveling the behemoth.

Annie Leonhardt

Attack on Titan fans know Annie is powerful outside of her human form, but the female soldier is a force to be reckoned with regardless. The cold, quiet character reigned over her fellow cadets with a sense of superiority that matched her combat prowess. In hand-to-hand combat, Annie could easily take on men twice her size, and her steadfast will to join the Survey Corps made her terrifying to watch. So, naturally, fans were not all too surprised when Annie’s Titan form wound up being insanely powerful as well.

Eren Yeager

Some may call Eren Yeager immature, but there is far more to the soldier than just hot-headed ambition. The hero comes to join the military after watching his mother be eaten by a rogue Titan, and Eren’s one-track mind makes him want to kill every beast he sees. It is the character’s determination that makes him dangerous as Eren forces himself to become a better fighter just to kill Titans. His sheer will is something no one else in the anime can match, and it even prompted Eren to unlock his true power to transform into a Titan as well.

Erwin Smith

There is no man in Attack on Titan who can match Erwin Smith controlled blood lust. The military captain has a lethal set of skills that make him efficient, observant, and wholly read to slice a Titan’s head off. There is no tool missing from the character’s wheelhouse, and his detached personality makes him all the more terrifying. The guy doesn’t flinch when a Titan comes at him, and Erwin’s by-the-law attitude makes the boy a difficult force to manipulate. So, by the end of Attack on Titan, fans learned to fear the captain almost as much as they feared the Colossal Titan.

Mikasa Ackerman

There are few characters in Attack on Titan who are born fighters, but Mikasa is one of them. The quiet, calculated heroine is one of the anime’s major players, and Mikasa proves her worth in every scene she gets. Gifted with natural agility and a strategic mind, Mikasa has a loyal heart that leads her to follow Eren into the military. The girl spends her days watching over her closest loved ones and helping them grow, but Mikasa won’t spare a thought to cut down anybody who threatens her precious ones.

Levi

If you have seen Attack on Titan, then you already know Levi is the strongest character in the anime. The soldier isn’t called ‘Humanity’s Strongest Soldier’ for kicks and giggles. When it comes to battle, Captain Levi is a terrifying force of methodical strategy and merciless bloodshed. The soldier is a prodigy with the Survey Corps’ 3D Maneuver Gear, and he makes every other military officer pale when he goes onto the frontline. And, of course, his chic personality makes him all the more irresistible to fans.
