It's been nearly two months since Boruto: Naruto Next Generations made its debut, and the sequel anime has flourished with fans. The shonen title was slow to start, but recent episodes have expanded the anime's world-building and set up some very important relationships. Fans have already been shown just how Boruto gets along with his absent father Naruto, and now another ninja is about to get a similar story arc.
That's right! If you are familiar with the Naruto manga, then you will likely know where Boruto: Naruto Next Generations is about to head next. Over in Japan, recent adverts for the anime have teased the Uchiha family is about to get a close-up, and it will borrow heavily from a fan-favorite manga story.
Thanks to Saiyan Island, fans have learned Boruto: Naruto Next Generations will shift attention to Sarada Uchiha and her family in the anime's next arc. The story will focus on Sasuke, Sakura, and Sarada. And, as the ad notes, there will be a particular focus on Sarada's red glasses.
Where there is no official confirmation that the anime will be leaning on the manga, Naruto fans will recognize these story tentpoles. After all, they were the main focus of Naruto Gaiden: The Seventh Hokage and the Scarlet Spring. The sequel manga debuted after Masashi Kishimoto wrapped the Naruto manga, and it takes place 15 years after the Fourth Great Shinobi War.
In the miniseries, the manga follows Sarada as she grows increasingly upset with her father's absence. The obsession only multiplies when Sarada begins to question whether Sakura is her real mother. As such, the young Uchiha escapes from the village with Chocho Akimichi to find Sasuke. However, their mission is sent south when a mysterious ninja bearing the Sharingan confronts Sarada. Naruto prevents Sarada from being kidnapped, but the trio then discover there is something far more sinister being planned for the Uchiha clan. And, most importantly, Sarada learns the secret behind the birth.
