Dragon Ball fans are used to seeing characters die, but that knowledge doesn’t make it any easier to swallow. When heroes like Goku or Vegeta are offed, fans are left reeling from the loss, but the same isn’t often said for villains.

So, tonight, Dragon Ball Super fans are left to gawk over the sudden death of Frost.

The anime returned just over an hour ago, but the fandom is still taken back by Frost’s death. The Universe 6 warrior met his end at the hands of the Omni-Kings once he was removed from the Tournament of Power. In a fit of rage, Frost tried to send a fatal attack Freeza’s way from the spectator’s stands, but the Omni-King simply erased the character from the multiverse to keep order.

Note to self: never mess with the Omni-Kings.

Frost isn’t the first character to be killed by the Omni-Kings, but his erasure is a special one. The deities have taken out entire universes such as Universe 9, but the Omni-Kings haven’t been seen offing one person specifically. Frost made them change that when he tried to attack Freeza as the out-of-bounds attack is against the Tournament’s rules.

“No attacks from outside,” the Omni-King says. “Do it again, and we’ll erase all of Universe 6.”

Frost’s death was a nasty shock for Cabba. The god could only watch as his universe’s most sly warrior was killed in an instant, but fans aren’t expecting Frost to stay dead for long. Dragon Ball has a history of keeping its more interesting characters around, and the anime has enough left to do with Universe 6 that killing off Frost would be a waste.

With Frost gone, Universe 6 and Universe 7 have the same number of warriors in the Tournament. Focus will be shifted from the teams overall to Goku when Dragon Ball Super returns in October. The anime is set to introduce the Saiyan’s much-awaited fight with Jiren, so fans can mark their calendars for the show’s return.

As you can imagine, the Dragon Ball fandom is sounding off about Frost’s take-down and very unexpected death. You can check out some of the best reactions below, but be warned! Fans can use colorful language when they’re surprised:

Not only did Frost get betrayed by himself, but Freeza dug the knife in a bit deeper. The villain called Frost a straight-up amateur, and fans were left fanning themselves over the fiery burn.

Here’s the real question: where were the Omni-Kings when Freeza came to wreck Krillin back in Dragon Ball Z?!

Dragon Ball Super has used Universe 6 a few times, but fans agree there is more to the mirror universe that can be used. With parallel races and characters, the franchise could start an entirely new anime based on Universe 6 if Akira Toriyama wished.

Frost is used to being a villain, but it is hard to out-villain Freeza. The Universe 7 tyrant still ranks as one of Dragon Ball‘s most intense baddies, and Frost never stood a chance against the cunning character to start.

If anyone fighting in the Tournament of Power learned something tonight, it is that they should not mess with the Omni-Kings. The deities may be small, but they can kill you and erase your entire existence with a snap .
