Last night, Dragon Ball fans rang in the new year right thanks to Toonami. The late-night anime block on Adult Swim went took a walk down memory lane when it brought the newest Dragon Ball anime to its 2017 line-up. The English dub of Dragon Ball Super was finally aired to the delight of fans, and audiences were wishing the premiere last longer than its 30-minute block. Sadly, the debut only covered episode one of the anime, but Toonami has no plans to stop airing the series. In fact, the network has released the dubbed preview for episode two of Dragon Ball Super, and it highlights Lord Beerus’ immense power.

The clip begins with King Kai looking rather shocked to see Goku transport to his small, cozy planet. “Why are you here, Goku?” he asks only to be sent into a funk when the Saiyan admits he has come by for a training visit.
Of course, fans know that Goku is going to need all the help he can get. If the Saiyan is expected to go up against Beerus, then Goku needs to get his power levels up. The preview shows the God of Destruction manhandling a fiery attack from an unknown assailant, and the poor opponent doesn’t stand a chance against the cat-like god.
As the preview comes to an end, fans watch as Beerus sends the Elder Kai into a tizzy. Thanks to the god’s destruction, the venerable protector of Earth blanches at Beerus’ universal rampage. “Lord Beerus the Destroyer has awoken,” the Elder Kai tells Kibito Kai.
Right now, the English dub of Dragon Ball Super is starting from the anime’s beginning, so fans are heading into the “God of Destruction Beerus” saga. In February, a brand-new story arc of Dragon Ball Super is set to kick off in Japan with the ‘Universal Survival’ saga. You can check out the brief synopsis for it below:
“At Goku’s request, the Omni-Kings’ “Tournament of Power” martial arts tournament between universes now begins! โฆBut this also proves to be the beginning of universal destruction. What awaits the victors of this tournament, and the vanquishedโฆ?! How will these intense team battles between the elites of each universe turn outโฆ?!”
Shortly after the arc was announced, producer Shunki Hashizume had this to say about the impending saga. “Dragon Ball Super enters its new chapter, the “Universe Survival Arc”. As you can see from the main visual, it’ll be a full-throttle story where Goku and the rest of the Universe 7 warriors form a team to take on a tournament between universes!” he wrote.
