Last weekend, Dragon Ball Super kicked off a brand-new arc that already has fans buzzing. The ‘Universal Survival’ saga will see Son Goku and a team of Universe 7 warriors go head-to-head against other fighters from the multiverse. Now, a brief synopsis for episode 78 has been released, and it teases major consequences for Goku.

“The ‘Tournament of Might’ will determine the strongest warriors in the universe, but it has an alarming rule that all universes except that of the winning team will be wiped out. What’s more, an ‘Omni-Present’ fighting match attended by the Omni-King is now also going to be held.

Of course, fans know that Goku was the man behind the martial arts tournament and its debut. The Saiyan disregarded all of the warnings he got from his friends and asked the Omni-Kings to set the event in motion. Despite being advised not to, Goku’s want to fight is now putting the entire multiverse at risk – and Zen-Oh is the one behind the threat. The franchise’s most powerful being is now the person threatening to destroy everything Goku knows, and there will be little chance to retcon the destruction of any universes as such.

As for the saga’s start date, the new arc premiered on February 5, 2017. The “Universal Survival” saga is part of the recent simulcast agreement that sites like Crunchyroll and Funimation have scored. Dragon Ball Super airs on Crunchyroll Saturdays at 7:15 p.m. CST. Toonami will begin airing the English dub on Adult Swim Saturdays at 11:30 p.m.
