Warning! Spoilers for Dragon Ball Super's 28th chapter lie below!

Dragon Ball Super's 'Universal Survival' arc is busy these days with Goku and Jiren, but it wasn't too long ago that a controversy plagued the fandom. Fans went to war over whether Goku was to blame for the Tournament of Power and its deadly consequence. The controversy has died down as of late, but there are still fans willing to protest the issue if asked.

So, it's good a thing the Dragon Ball Super manga addressed the issue.

The manga is behind the anime itself, but its catch-up can give readers important insight into the anime. The series' latest chapter follows the Grand Priest as he says the Gods of Destruction must battle before the Tournament of Power can get underway. The exhibition match is a tense one, but it's the interaction that Beerus has with his fellow gods beforehand that has fans buzzing.

Before the gods go head-to-head, Goku is seen wishing Beerus good luck. The temperamental character tells Goku to shove it, saying, "Who do you think is responsible for all this?!!! Quit being such an idiot!!!"

The rest of the gods point fingers at Beerus' universe, but they do not hold the grudge against Goku. Instead, they push the blame on Beerus. The gods come together to remind Beerus that he nearly got every single universe destroyed the last time the Omni-King held an impromptu meeting.

According to Whis, the Omni-King wanted to play a game of hide-and-seek with his underlings. However, Beerus went and took a fifty year nap during the ordeal.

"The tournament had to be canceled since he never came out. His majesty, who was truly enjoying teh event, became furious. In order to calm his anger, the rest of the gods from the other universes had to make extremely intensive efforts to please him. Due to that, they all have animosity towards Lord Beerus," Whis explained.

The anime stressed once before that Goku was in no way to blame for the Tournament's creation. The Omni-Kings were planning to cull from of their weaker universes, but Goku gave those words a fighting chance thanks to his suggested competition. With the manga backing up that claim, Dragon Ball fans can rest easy knowing that Goku isn't the fall man for this arc.

No, if anything, everyone can blame the event's grudges on Beerus instead.
