Dragon Ball Super Teases A New Power-Up For Gohan

If you thought Gohan couldn't do better than his mystic state, then you may have another thing coming. Dragon Ball Z fans watched years ago as the half-Saiyan had his full potential unlocked by the Elder Kai, but Gohan has since seen his fighting sense dwindle. Marriage and fatherhood have taken a toil on the hero, but Piccolo recently whipped Gohan back into shape via Dragon Ball Super. And, by the end of their first training session, Piccolo made a rather bold statement about Gohan's power.
In the anime's 89th episode, fans watched as Gohan and Piccolo took them on a joyride to the past. The pair were seen training just like old times, and the nostalgic beatdowns the two shared had fans feeling good. By the end of the episode, Gohan was finally able to reenter his mystic state without outside assistance, but Piccolo doesn't think Gohan taps out at that transformation. In fact, Piccolo thinks there is more to the hero.
"No. The real training comes next," Piccolo tells Gohan after the latter thanks him for the training.
"Gohan, I don't believe that is the extent of your power. You should be able to go much further," Piccolo tells his shocked pupil. "Don't you want to see it. Just how far you can go. How strong you can become."
"There's still time until the tournament. Want to try with me? To see how strong you can become in the time we have left," the Namekian finishes.
Of course, Gohan is all for powering up some more, leaving fans to wonder if a new power-up is in the cards. The hero's mystic state is meant to unlock the full extend of Gohan's power, but there may be room for the hero to put Super Saiyan states on top of his mystic form. In the episode's last moments, Gohan does ask if Piccolo and he should "create a double-team maneuver or a combination" or some sort.
Clearly, Piccolo has been keeping up with his training throughout Dragon Ball Super. The hero was able to fight toe-to-toe against Goha, placing his power levels at that of a Super Saiyan 2 warrior. If Piccolo and Gohan can find a way to power-up with a combined double-team attack, the pair would be a formidable one to fight in the Tournament of Power.
Still, they might want to check their power a little in check. Goku might get overexcited and try to challenge his own teammates if the duo create a move that's too intense. Whoops!
