Homestuck Animated Series From Hazbin Hotel Creators Debuts Pilot Episode: Watch

Homestuck has made the jump to animated after all these years thanks to a new pilot producer by many of the same creators and talents behind Hazbin Hotel. The Hellaverse has been expanding quite a lot in the past few years as the team at Spindlehorse has not only found a ton of success with Hazbin Hotel, but its sister series Helluva Boss as well. Both animated works originally got their start through very popular pilots shared with fans online, and it seems like the next major series is already on deck with the debut of the studio’s next big pilot.

Homestuck originally began as a webcomic series created by Andrew Hussie in 2009 and ran for a few years. It was a massive hit with those who read the series, and now it has returned with a brand new animated pilot tackled by the team at Spindleroo. Sharing the new pilot through Hazbin Hotel series creator Vivianne Medrano’s official YouTube channel, it has already crossed over one million views in just the couple of days it has been out. You can check it out in action below to see how the series made the jump to this new format.

Homestuck Makes Its Animated Debut With Brand-New Pilot

Homestuck is using this new pilot with the hopes that it will be optioned for a full animated series, and there’s a good chance of this happening considering the creative team behind it. Medrano’s Hellaverse series have been massively successful since they made their initial pilot debuts, and that’s only been more the case with the full debuts of their series in the years since. Given that this series also already has a huge fanbase thanks to the original comics, it does have a lot of chance at success either way. As for how this all came to life, Homestuck credits original series creator Andrew Hussie with the idea.

Hazbin Hotel creator Vivienne Medrano serves as executive producer, Skye Henwood acts as director/writer, Mel Shin as Storyboard Director, Ben Jones as Animation Director, Hone as Art Director, Ash Beavers serves as Background Supervisor, Hilary Locke as Production Manager, Tom Murray is a producer, voice direction is overseen by Richard Horvitz, and the score is composed by Alexander Arntzen. The voice cast for the pilot includes Toby โ€œRadiationโ€ Fox as John Egbert, Cherami Leigh as Rose Lalonde, Colleen Oโ€™Shaughnessey as Jade Harley, Adam McArthur as Dave Strider, and Brandon Winckler as Karkat Vantas.

What’s Next for Homestuck?

With this pilot already reached over a million views in just the couple of days it has hit YouTube, it does have the chance at finding that investor that could help the franchise get to the next level. It might not be a part of the Hellaverse, but its connection to that world will also hopefully help grease the wheels of those who have seen the success of those shows since they have started to launch with the likes of Prime Video.

Homestuck is one of those projects that comes from an entirely different era of the Internet. Its original webcomic went on for nearly 10,000 entries, and has amassed a cult following of fans that still show their love to series to this day. When a group of kids accidentally destroy the world, it’s only the beginning of more chaos to come. There’s plenty of material to draw from for a full animated series, so let’s hope it gets that chance.
