Iconic Anime Loses Top 10 Rotten Tomatoes Score To 2025’s Record Breaking New Release

It seems like everyone knew that Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle was going to be a hit. But could anyone have predicted exactly how big it was going to be? The film has already smashed multiple records in its short time in theaters, and it doesnโ€™t seem to be slowing down anytime soon, with the movie soaring to the number one movie in North America with $70 million USD as its opening weekend take. That said, the next two films in the planned trilogy have big shoes to fill with Infinity Castle‘s newest record-breaking moment.

After an untouchable September run in theaters, despite someโ€ฆinteresting reviews, the anime film keeps rising to the top. According to the Rotten Tomatoes Tomatometer, Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle is sitting pretty with a 98%, and has dethroned Studio Ghibliโ€™s iconic Spirited Away, taking a top 10 spot for Anime movies, ranked by RT score, from the beloved anime about a young girl who ventures into the spirit world to save her parents with the help of a surly bath house worker and a river spirit who canโ€™t remember his own name.ย

Demon Slayer Stays Winning with New Records

Not only has Infinity Castle taken a top ten spot on the 100 Best Anime list, itโ€™s also snatched multiple other records in its release run, from its $70M opening run to far superseding another beloved anime juggernaut, Pokรฉmon: The First Movieโ€”which brought in $31M in its opening weekend. And itโ€™s really no surprise that the film keeps breaking records; its stunning visuals, intense fight scenes, and heart-wrenching storyline create the perfect storm that we watch anime for in the first place.ย

Whatโ€™s Demon Slayerโ€™s Biggest Box Office Competition?

At this point, the filmโ€™s biggest competition will be its successors. Two more movies are planned to round out a trilogy, and we can only hope that theyโ€™ll be as gripping, aesthetically pleasing, and easy to emotionally invest in as the first. Information about the final two films has been kept heavily under wraps, so we donโ€™t know too much of what to expect. But that definitely gives everyone enough time to binge the original anime series (again) before the next film hits theaters.
