Many Anime series revolve around two characters falling in love. But what about characters falling in love in a world where love is forbidden, this is the premise of the upcoming anime series, Love and Lies. Yesterday, Amuse Soft Entertainment, the studio behind the series, released a new trailer, release date, and cast information for the show.

The new trailer, seen above, shows off characters featured in the show, as well as the July 3 premiere date. Apparently the anime will also be getting a preview screening at Tokyo’s Shinjuku theater on July 24. The trailer also revealed some of the show’s new cast, seen below:
- Ryota Ohsaka as Yukari Nejima
- Kana Hanazawa as Misaki Takasaki
- Yui Makino as Ririna Sanada
Love and Lie was created by Musawo Tsumugi and originally launched as a manga in DeNA’s MangaBox app, in 2014. The manga immediately blew up it in popularity and became the top ranked manga in multiple languages, and thus received an anime adaptation. The story is described by MangaBox below:
“Lies are forbidden and love is doubly forbidden. In the near future, when young people in Japan turn sixteen, they are assigned a marriage partner by the government. People don’t have to go through the trouble of looking for someone, and everyone accepts that the country will find a compatible partner to make them happy. Yukari Nejima is fifteen years old. He lives in a small corner of the country, and just can’t seem to get ahead in life. Both academically and athletically he’s below average. But in within him, he hides a heart burning with passion! In this world in which love is forbidden, what will happen to him when he falls in love?”
This is not the only adaptation that the work will be recieving this year, as a live action adaptation of the Love and Lie will also be opening this Fall. The movie will be following the manga more than the upcoming anime, as the anime features 2 girls and one male, while the manga and live action feature one girl and two boys.
