In the next episode of Dragon Ball Super, fans will finally get to see Caulifla as she goes Super Saiyan for the first time. The brash girl was recruited by Cabba to join the team who’ll protect Universe 6 in the impending Tournament of Power, and Caulifla will need the power to fight against the likes of Goku. In the anime’s preview for next week, fans are shown what Caulifla will look like when she enters the state, and it looks very familiar. The girl’s spiky black locks stick up and take on a golden hue while her eyes become a light shade of blue. In the background, fans can see Cabba looking pleased by the heroine’s progress, but another spectator looks jealous. A Saiyan girl named Kale can be seen watching Caulifla train from behind a pillar, and fans know it will only be a matter of time until the fighter gives the Super Saiyan state a go. After all, Kale has been confirmed to be the Saiyan whose leveled-up state bears an uncanny resemblance to the one Broly enters when he goes Legendary Super Saiyan.
Is that a coincidence? Well, fans will just have to wait and see…
Fans first learned they would get to see more of Caulifla’s Super Saiyan transformation last week. A slew of new synopses for Dragon Ball Super were published over in Japan, and fan-translators were quick to give fans the low-down on upcoming episodes. For the anime’s 92nd episode, the anime’s lengthy synopsis read partially as follows: “Universe 6: In preparation for the tournament, Caulifla and her underling Kale learn from Cabba how to power up into Super Saiyan. Universe 11: The people of Universe 11 [Kai and Toppo]. Toppo, one of the warriors, has continued to recruit people for the tournament.”
Clearly, the nod to Universe 6 is one which caught everyone’s attention. In the accepted canon of Dragon Ball, there have been no full-blooded female Super Saiyans. Goku’s mother Gine was introduced to fans in peripheral materials, but the heroine was not able to reach the Super Saiyan state. And, in the video games, a time-traveling human named Viola is able to use technology which mimics the Super Saiyan state. Still, none of these characters have ever been able to reach the state on their own; Kale and Caulifla will be the first.
You can read the synopsis of “Emergency! We Don’t Have All 10 Members!!” below:
“The tournament member Majin Buu ends up unable to participate. It turns out he’s fallen asleep and definitely won‘t wake up again for about two months. Goku rushes to Buu.”

Dragon Ball Super‘s “Universal Survival” saga is part of the recent simulcast agreement that sites like Crunchyroll and Funimation have scored. Dragon Ball Super airs on Crunchyroll Saturdays at 7:15 p.m. CST. Toonami will begin airing the English dub on Adult Swim Saturdays at 11:30 p.m.
