In a just over a month, fans of Ghost in the Shell will finally be treated to a live-action take on the franchise. The iconic, genre-bending series made its debut decades ago in Japan, and U.S. audiences will be introduced to Major Motoko Kusanagi and her crew thanks to Paramount Pictures. The studio is set to premiere Rupert Sanders’ take on the manga franchise in March, and it looks like new footage from the project will debut in a trailer soon.

Over on Twitter, Paramount Pictures teased fans with a killer TV spot and announced a new trailer for Ghost in the Shell would hit the Internet on Monday.
“They created me. But they cannot control me,” the tweet read. “New Ghost in the Shell trailer coming Monday!”
Of course, the film also had a recently blip of publicity earlier this week thanks to the Super Bowl. Ghost in the Shell aired a TV spot during the game’s coveted commercial breaks, and the clip quickly began buzzing online thanks to fans.
Based on Masamune Shirow’s acclaimed manga, Ghost in the Shell is a story that marries hi-tech action and philosophical musings. The series follows Major Motoko Kusanagi, a special ops leader at the anti-terrorist organization Section 9. The heroine is also a one-of-a-kind cybernetic human with a full body prosthesis. Tasked with catching bad guys, the Major works with her colleagues to catch criminals and extremists who wish to deconstruct society’s cybernetic advancements.
Ghost in the Shell is directed by Rupert Sanders, from a screenplay written by Jonathan Herman and Jamie Moss. It stars Scarlett Johansson as The Major, Pilou Asbรฆk as Batou, Takeshi Kitano as Chief Daisuke Aramaki, Chin Han as Togusa, Michael Pitt as Kuze, and Juliette Binoche as Dr. Ouelet.
