Over on Reddit, anime fans started to geek out over one Gunpla maker’s recent custom kit. User /De_Rossian_Spy shared pictures of he took of his original builds he did for a Gunpla competition. The PokeGundam entry shows what it would look like if a mobile suit were inspired by Scyther and Beedrill.
As you can see below, the former piece is truly a suit which looks like it came from the Mobile Suit Gundam series. The sleek build is colored a lime-green like Scyther, and it has wing-like extensions in the back. The custom build also has two blades attached to its arms which act like scythes, so the weaponry is rather appropriate.
The build for Beedrill is a bit simpler, but it is also very impressive. The grey-and-yellow build has plasma canons where the Pokemon’s legs would be, and its stinger is turned into a massive weapon which any pilot would hate to come across.
If you are not a fan of the Gundam franchise, then you should know the series is as popular for its anime as it is Gunpla. The term refers to the massive community of fans who collect, build, and create Gundam models. Kits are sold worldwide and cover a large array of suits. Collectors and builders began investing in Gunpla during the 1980s and has since become one lucrative source of revenue for Japanese companies. Bandai Namco earns billions of yen each year from its kid sales, and individual fans can sell their custom designs for decent rates if they look half as nice as these Pokemon Mobile Suits.
