If you are not familiar with Sailor Moon and its musical history, then don’t worry! It won’t take long to catch-up. That is, if you don’t try to watch all of the anime’s various musicals. Started back in 1993, Sailor Moon dished out its own live-action musicals three times a year to entertain students during holidays. In 2005, the tradition would go on hiatus until a brand-new play was planned for 2013. More than 20 years since the first play debuted, more than 31 Sailor Moon musicals have been performed with over 800 individual shows.
The cast members scheduled to appear at Houston’s special Sailor Moon musical include:
- Hotaru Nomoto (Sailor Moon)
Yume Takeuchi (Sailor Mercury)
Karen Kobayashi (Sailor Mars)
Kaede (Sailor Jupiter)
Rimo Hasegawa (Sailor Venus)
Syu Shiotsuki (Sailor Uranus)
Sayaka Fujioka (Sailor Neptune)
Mikako Ishii (Sailor Pluto)
Karin Takahashi (Sailor Saturn)
Yuga Yamato (Tuxedo Mask)
If you want to make a trip for the special Sailor Moon performance, it will take place on April 7th. The full convention will be from April 7-9 in Houston at the George R. Brown Convention Center. And, if it would be easier for you to see the show in Japan, then the troupe will begin a new musical run over there this fall.
