Bad Grandpa

Bad Grandpa defied Gravity this weekend. The critical hit Gravity starring George Clooney and Sandra Bullock was going for its fourth consecutive weekend atop the U.S. box office but the film was derailed by a Jackass. According to early estimates on Deadline, Bad Grandpa, featuring Jackass star Johnny Knoxville, won its opening weekend at the U.S. box office with an impressive $33 million haul. While Jackass movies are generally the only thing that critics hate more than superhero movies, Bad Grandpa has gotten some surprisingly good reviews. While losing the top spot, Gravity still finished its fourth weekend with a strong $20 million, which was good enough for second place. Captain Phillips, also entering its fourth weekend, took third place with $11.7 million. Ridley Scott's The Counselor finished in fourth place with only $7.5 million, which is being labeled a disappointment considering the film featured several well-known stars.
