As the film approached its summer release, Dreamworks has just revealed the first poster (via Nerdist) of the titular character, inspired by classic superhero poses and comic covers.

Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie marks the character’s first foray into feature films, with Ed Helms voicing the titular character.

Thomas Middleditch of Silicon Valley and comedian superstar Kevin Hart voice the kids that create the comic character—and then hypnotize their teacher into personifying the superhero.

Jordan Peele of Key & Peele will also voice a character in the cast, their annoying classmate Melvin, while Nick Kroll voices the villainous Professor Poopypants.

Author Dav Pilkey created the series over 20 years ago with the release of the first book for Scholastic. After 12 volumes, the series has become a phenomenon despite multiple attempts to ban the series.

Tubro‘s David Soren directs the film from a script by Muppets Most Wanted‘s Nicholas Stoller.

Two scheming fourth graders, George Beard (Kevin Hart) and Harold Hutchins (Thomas Middleditch) whose personal missions are to play pranks, hide in their secret treehouse and write comic books. But when they accidentally bring their favorite comic book character, Captain Underpants, to life through a hypnosis accident involving their megalomaniacal principal Mr. Krupp (Ed Helms), their elementary school life becomes anything but elementary. Rounding out the cast will be Jordan Peele who will voice Melvin, the nerdy nemesis of George and Harold, and Nick Kroll as the insidious villain, Professor Poopypants.

Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie will hit theaters on June 2. The film is based on the first book.
