The fall television is underway, and our TV Power Rankings is back for Week 3.
Videos by ComicBook.com
The TV Power Rankings is our official list of the best comic book shows on television. As with last year, we’ll start the list with only shows that are either currently on the air or have a scheduled premiere date.
So how do we decide where shows wind up on the list? We take into account fan buzz, ratings, and critical response, as well as feedback from our readers.
We’ll update the Power Rankings every Saturday, using our criteria as well as your input. We’ve also included a handy poll at the end of the slideshow to give you a voice in pushing your favorite show up the rankings. So be sure to click through to the end and let us know which shows you feel should rank a bit higher.
1) Luke Cage
Last Week’s Ranking: #1 (no change)
Unsurprisingly, Luke Cage continues to hold the top spot in our power rankings. Marvel mega fans have already finished binging the first season, but the show is still getting plenty of buzz on the Internet. Fans are already clamoring for a Misty Knight spinoff series, and we’re learning a little bit more about early plans for the series. We also got our first tease of the Defenders, when all four Netflix/Marvel stars came together for a surprise live chat last week.

2) Westworld
Last Week’s Ranking: N/A
This isn’t a comic book show, but it’s definitely a show that all superhero fans should be watching. Westworld is HBO’s bold new series about a western theme park populated by human-like androids called “hosts”. Westworld opened to HUGE ratings, leading to HBO releasing their second episode early on HBO GO. ComicBook.com will have full coverage of Westworld, and you’re encouraged to watch along with us on Sunday nights.

3) The Flash
Last Week’s Ranking: #6 (up 3 spots)
The CW’s biggest superhero show jumped up in the power rankings this week, as it returned this week from summer hiatus. This week’s episode was The Flash‘s version of Flashpoint, the universe altering event that ushered in DC’s New 52 era. Barry’s time in the “Flashpoint universe” was pretty short, but our DC expert Russ Burlingame thinks that it could play heavily into the threat Barry faces this year.
ย
4) Fear the Walking Dead
Last Week’s Rating: #7 (up 3 spots)
Fear the Walking Dead ended its second season with more than a few deaths, as we learned Chris’s final fate (he’s dead) and saw Travis’s heartbreaking reaction (he killed the dudes who killed his son). Chris was the worst, but Travis didn’t deserve to find out that his son’s new friends murdered him without hesitation. The finale left a lot of people’s fate up in the air, but ComicBook.com’s Brandon Davis gave fans exclusive news about next season’s new villain.

5) The Walking Dead
Last Week’s Ranking: #3 (down 2 spots)
We’re only a few weeks away from Season 7’s big premiere and we’re still guessing who Negan’s first fatality is. We heard Walking Dead alum Chad Coleman’s theory about the deaths, and we also found out that the big scene might be even worse than in the comics. Actor Michael Cudlitz wants fans worried about this season, and frankly we’re inclined to agree with him.
ย
6) Arrow
Last Week’s Ranking: #8 (up 2 spots)
Arrow began its fifth season to pretty soft ratings, which is pretty disappointing as the show received a “soft reboot” of sorts. Oliver is now mayor and operating (mostly) solo, Thea’s his aide at city hall, Diggle is working abroad for ARGUS, and Felicity…well, Felicity is still doing her thing. We also learned Laurel’s final words to Oliver, which was a bit of a letdown. Next week will see Arrow start training his new team of recruits, and hopefully see better ratings.
ย
7) Agents of SHIELD
Last Week’s Ranking: #2 (down 5 spots)
Agents of SHIELD took the week off because of the Vice Presidential debate, so it took a bit of a drop in the rankings. While we didn’t get a new episode, we did confirm the identity of Jason O’Mara’s character and we also had a chance to do a live video interview with Clark Gregg, which is pretty darn cool.
ย
8) Supergirl
Last Week’s Ranking: #4 (down 4 spots)
Supergirl took a bit of a tumble in the rankings as the show’s second season hasn’t started yet. It was a pretty light week forย Supergirl news too, although we did get our first look at Lynda Carter and Melissa Benoist sharing the screen together, which is pretty awesome.
ย
9) Iron Fist
Last Week’s Ranking: N/A
Now that Luke Cage is officially in the books, Netflix and Marvel are already hyping their next collaborative project. Netflix announced that Iron Fist will premiere on March 17, 2017, and they also released a first look at the show. We also got some cool new official artwork this week at NYCC. If you want to know more about Iron Fist, be sure to check out our feature exploring everything we know about Marvel’s next big hit.
10) The Punisher
Last Week’s Ranking: N/A
It seems that The Punisher has started filming, and Marvel has announced the first cast members that will be joining Castle in his one man war on crime. Ebon Moss-Bachrach has been cast as Micro, Punisher’s ally turned enemy, while Amber Rose Revah will play a federal agent vexed by the Punisher. There’s also a rumor that at least one Daredevil cast member will at least make a cameo in the upcoming season. No release date has been announced for The Punisher, but we’re guessing it will be sometime in 2017.
Honorable Mentions (and Poll)
Missed the Cut: iZombie (CW),ย Outcastย (AMC), Preacher (AMC),ย Dark Matterย (SyFy), American Horror Story (FX), Riverdale (CW), Legends of Tomorrow (CW), Lucifer (Fox)
[Note:ย Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and other shows that don’t have an upcoming “premiere date” have been left off the rankings unless there’s some sort of new news about the show, but will be added once a premiere date has been announced.]
