Thanks in large parts to Marvel Studios, more people are watching movie credits than ever before. Because of the success Marvel has had with after the credits scenes in their various Avengers franchise movies, people have come to expect that any franchise movie might include something extra after the credits.
In regards to if Dawn of the Planet of the Apes has a stinger after the credits, the question is somewhat up for debate. There is not what one would probably label a traditional after the credits scene in Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, but there is something. After the credits finish, there is some muffled audio of ape sounds, possibly an ape shifting through rubble and gasping for air.
Of course, the audio could mean nothing or it could be very significant. If you want to know why it could be significant, then check the spoiler text below that spoils a major event in the movie.
