Deliver Us from Evil is directed by Scott Derrickson, who was recently announced as director of Doctor Strange. When asked by IGN if he and Derrickson had discussed a Doctor Strange role at all, Ramirez replied, “We’ve been talking.” Ramirez stopped short of revealing which role they were talking about, but IGN speculates that it could be Doctor Strange himself, or his nemesis, Baron Mordo.
Ramirez’s work includes roles in The Bourne Ultimatum and Wrath of the Titans. His next project is to play Brodhi in the remake of Point Break.
It’s worth noting that these are only informal talks being had by a director and an actor, hardly anything official.
In Deliver Us from Evil, Ramirez plays a Jesuit priest and exorcist dealing with some particularly nasty demons. Not bad training for a potential Doctor Strange. The film opens July 2.
Doctor Strange is expected to being filming in spring 2015.
