An Exorcist remake? Now that’ll make your head spin!

Over the decades, Morgan Creek Productions has produced 78 films and today they announced that have hired investment banking group to sell domestic rights to their extensive library. Why? Are they swimming in debt? Nope. Actually they are debt-free and want to use the funds raised from the sale to go into funding a number of new properties that they are looking to move forward on.

Deadline reports: “As part of any sale, Morgan Creek would retain remake rights for five titles โ€” Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, Major League, Young Guns, Flying Tigers and The Exorcist โ€” but pay a percentage of the gross profit to the new owner of the library.” Morgan Creek CEO Jim Robinson informed Deadline that remakes are currently in the works for several of those properties, including The Exorcist.

The Exorcist (1973), directed by William Friedkin and starred Max von Sydow and Linda Blair, is still considered one of the scariest films ever produced. It’s about a 12-year-old girl named Regan (Blair) who becomes possessed by the devil after playing with a Ouija board. Father Karras (Jason Miller) and Father Merrin (Sydow) are called in to help, but what they experience is no run of the mill exorcism.
