Game of Thrones is nominated in the Outstanding Drama category against primetime heavyweights Breaking Bad, Downton Abbey, House of Cards, Mad Men and True Detective. Showrunners D.B. Weiss and David Benioff received a joint nomination in the Outstanding Writing in a Drama Series category for their work on the show’s fourth season finale, “The Children.” Neil Marshall is nominated for Outstanding Directing in a Drama series for the episode titled “The Watchers on the Wall,” which featured the Battle of Castle Black.
The show’s performers also received individual nominations in the Oustanding Supporting Actor and Oustanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series categories, with Peter Dinklage receiving the former nomination for playing Tyrion Lannister, and Lena Headey receiving the latter for playing his sister, Cersei. Olenna Rigg received a nomination for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series for her portrayal of Lady Olenna Tyrell, “The Queen of Thorns.”
The series also received nominations for Outstanding Interactive Program, Outstanding Art Direction For A Contemporary Or Fantasy Series (Single-Camera), Outstanding Casting for a Drama Series, Outstanding Costumes for Series, Outstanding Hairstyling for a Single-Camera Series, Outstanding Makeup for a Single-Camera Series (non-prosthetic), Outstanding Prosthetic Makeup for a Series, Miniseries, Movie or a Special, Outstanding Music Composition for a Series (Original Dramatic Score), Outstanding Sound Editing for a Series, Outstanding Sound Mixing for a Comedy or Drama Series (One Hour), Outstanding Special and Visual Effects, Outstanding Stunt Coordination for a Drama Series, Miniseries Or Movie, and two separate nominations for outstanding Cinematography for a Single-Camera Series.
