Veteran comics writer Louise Simonson will write Super Secret Crisis War, a new miniseries that brings Samurai Jack, Powerpuff Girls, Ben 10, Dexter’s Laboratory and Ed, Edd & Eddy together in a sweeping action-comedy epic.The six-issue event miniseries will feature the heroes going toe-to-toe against Aku, Vilgax, Mandark and Mojo Jojo.”I love writing group books! So obviously,Super Secret Crisis War! is my dream job!” Simonson said. “Even researching the series is fun—who doesn’t love watching cartoons!? Each issue will also feature a subscription cover by The Powerpuff Girls writer and artist Troy Little that combine to form one massive image. Additional variants by artists including My Little Pony‘s Katie Cook will also be solicited.In July, the story will expand as Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends, Grim Adventures of Billy and MandyJohnny BravoCodename: Kids Next Door, and Cow and Chicken will all join Super Secret Crisis War in their own one-shots. Written by Ivan Cohen, Kate Leth, Erik Burnham, Scott Peterson and Jim Zub, respectively, each one-shot will tie in to the Super Secret Crisis War showing the full scope of the looming threat.While recent years have treated the first, ongoing female writers of Wonder Woman and The Avengers as headline news, Eagle Award- and Inkpot Award-winning comics writer Simonson spent the better part of a decade helping to shape the voice of Superman, launching Superman: The Man of Steel with Jon Bogdanove in 1991 and remaining with the title for 80 issues. Her other notable works include sixty issues on X-Factor, the Eagle for Power Pack and the creation (with Bogdanove) of Steel, one of the most popular and enduring Big Two characters created in the modern era. A longtime writer, editor and children’s book author, this is her first major comics work outside of Marvel or DC.
