Fans have been eager to see more of John Boyega in Pacific Rim Uprising, and the star recently shared a new photo on his Instagram account to give fans an idea of what they can expect.
Boyega shared what looks like a black and white photo of Gypsy Danger walking amongst the buildings of the city with one lone helicopter flying next to it. For fans of the original, you know that scenes like this are what set it apart from other films, as the sheer size and scale of these things is awe-inspiring. You can view the image below.

As for Boyega, his casting was met with immediate praise, including from the film’s producer. “It is undeniable that with all his talent and natural charm, John stands out amongst today’s generation of young leading men,” Producer Mary Parent told Deadline. Guillermo del Toro also praised the casting of Boyega, saying “I am very proud and happy to welcome John into a fantastic sandbox. The Pacific Rim universe will be reinforced with him as a leading man as it continues to be a multicultural, multi-layered world. ‘The World saving the world’ was our goal and I couldn’t think of a better man for the job.”
Boyega will be joined by Scott Eastwood, Cailee Spaeny, and Jing Tian in Pacific Rim: Maelstrom. The cast also includes Levi Meaden, Adria Arjona, Rahart Adams. Karan Brar, Nick E. Tarabay, Ivanna Sakhno, Zhang Jin, Mackenyu, Shyrley Rodriguez, Wesley Wong, Lily Ji, Chen Zitong, Lan Yingying, and Qian Yongchen.
Pacific Rim: Uprising is currently being filmed, and is expected to hit theaters February 23, 2018.
