Brolin says that the enormity of the role didn’t really strike him until Comic-Con, and that he seems to have a rivalry with Robert Downey, Jr., Marvel’s Iron Man
Thanos was a one-day process: it was a digital process that I was personally involved in.
Once I was at Comic-Con I realized what it meant to everybody. The critics’ impact is minimal here, it’s all about the fans. And when I was at Comic-Con, I realized the great rivalry between Robert & myself, and so did Marvel, so I think they have big plans for Thanos in the future.
Considering that Thanos’ role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been seeded since The Avengers, that he’s one of the most powerful villains in the Marvel Universe, and that he is the primary catalyst of the epic Infinity Gauntlet storyline that the Marvel Cinematic Universe seems to be moving towards telling, “big plans” is probably a safe bet.
Brolin, who also stars in Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, another comic book movie, and he spoke a bit about what comic books he’s enjoyed reading in the past.
Richie Rich, which I am ashamed to admit. Richie Rich, Hulk, and Thor (I had a thing for blonds?)
And then got into the graphic novels of Frank Miler & all that, which isn’t just to promote this film, it’s the truth.
Sin City: A Dame to Kill For opens August 22.
