Morgan Creek Says They “Will Never Attempt To Remake The Exorcist”

Several days ago, heads of Horror fans violently spun around when it was reported that Morgan Creek’s CEO Jim Robinson had told Deadline that a remake of The Exorcist was in the works. Welp, you can put down your pitchforks because Morgan Creek has now officially announced that they “will never attempt” a remake of the 1973 horror classic.

“For the record, we will never attempt to remake THE EXORCIST,” posted by Morgan Creek’s official Twitter account. Great news! However, that might be because Morgan Creek doesn’t own the rights to the original — only the rights to the inferior prequel and sequels.

William Friedkin, the director of the frightening tale of an innocent girl possessed by an evil entity, chimed in on the matter when it was first reported. “I mention it only in passing, but I don’t believe Morgan Creek has rights to THE ORIGINAL, only the so-called sequels,” he tweeted. “In my opinion, Morgan Creek has Tarnished THE EXORCIST enough, with its “Sequels.””
