Mortal Kombat and Arrow martial artist Darren Shahlavi has passed away at the age of 42.

Though his death was announced today, reports say that Shahlavi’s body was discovered on January 14th by the Los Angeles Police Department. Found dead in his home, some reports say that Shahlavi’s cause of death is unknown, while TMZ is reporting that he died from a prescription overdose.
Shahlavi led a high-profile martial arts career, lending stunts to Mortal Kombat: Legacy, Watchmen, 300, and Sanctuary. He also held a guest role in The CW’s Arrow, where he worked alongside series star Stephen Amell. He recently finished filming Alone In The Dark with action star Jean-Claude Van Damme.
Upon hearing the news, Stephen Amell took to Twitter to pay his respects to Shahlavi, whom he worked with on Arrow’s first season.
