CBS is moving forward with a new series based on the clue-seeking character from the mystery fiction series created by publisher Edward Stratemeyer. They’ve brought in former Grey’s Anatomy executive producers Joan Rater and Tony Phelan to co-write and executive produce Nancy Drew.
Plot: A contemporary take on the Nancy Drew character, who now is a detective for the NYPD where she investigates and solves crimes using her uncanny observational skills, all while navigating the complexities of life in a modern world.
Nancy Drew has made it to the big screen five times and to the small screen 3 times. Most recently, Emma Roberts played the plaid skirt-wearing, magnifying glass-wielding detective in Warner Bros. 2007 film. As for television, Maggie Lawson from Psych was the last actress to play her a failed pilot that was converted into a TV movie.
