Pokken Tournament is only a month away and Nintendo has released a new trailer to get fans excited for its Pokemon fighting game. Pokken Tournament will allow players to control one of 16 different Pokemon characters in a Tekken-style fighting game that mixes 2D and 3D fighting fields. The initial roster includes fan favorite Pokemon like Pikachu and Charizard, as well as unexpected choices like Braixen and Chandelure. The game also includes a new version of Mewtwo called “Shadow Mewtwo” which is supposedly the main boss of the game.
The new trailer features matchups between Pikachu and Lucario, Garchomp and Braixen, and Machamp and Suicine. Shadow Mewtwo also makes an appearance in his Mega Evolved form.
While Pokken Tournament’s gameplay is primarily “fighting” based, the game will still maintain some traditional Pokemon elements. Players will be able to level up their fighters in the single player campaign, allowing for customization and stronger Pokemon. Players can also use “support Pokemon” in battle, which gives players a onetime boost or attack that can help turn the tide of a match.
Pokken Tournament will come out on March 18th for Wii U.
